Welcome to 298 (Hornsea) Squadron

Are you ready for a Challenge? School year 8 or above.

Air Cadets are taught the theory of leadership and practical leadership skills, and are given the opportunity to put into practice what they have learnt.

ActivTrak is a cloud-based monitoring software allowing us on-site monitoring. Your son/daughter safety is our "Priority".

Rank Structure

Promotion to the ranks of Corporal through to Flight Sergeant are named on merit and leadership potential. There are no exams to be taken as promotion to these ranks are determined by the Commanding Officer of the Squadron.

A key part of the cadet experience is your progress through the training syllabus. Set out in stages for you to work through, it enables you to open up more possibilities.

Flying & Gliding

Throughout the year, cadets get the opportunity to fly in the RAF's Grob Tutor and Vigilant Glider. The cadets get the chance to have "hands on" experience from the first flight.

Annual Camps

One of the premier events in the Air Cadet calendar is annual camp where cadets spend a week on one of the RAF stations around the UK - taking part in a full range of cadets activities as well as the opportunity to explore the station.

Get A Head Start

We are not a recruiting organisation for the RAF but if you're thinking about a service career, cadet membership will put you ahead of the competition.

Many cadets go on the great success in the RAF (and the other services). Around 40% of officers and 50% of all aircrew (including pilots, navigators and engineers) in the RAF now are ex-cadets. Research shows that they do better in basic training and stay in the service longer the their colleagues.
